St. Kitts & Nevis is known for festivals both on the national and community levels. The two national festivals are the St. Kitts & Nevis National Carnival and the St. Kitts Music Festival. Among the many community festivals, the one that has risen to the highest prominence is the Culturama Festival on Nevis.
National Carnival, now known as Sugar Mas, is celebrated from December 26 to January 02, with adjustments being made to account for Sundays. The Music Festival takes place on the last full weekend in June, while Culturama is scheduled to incorporate the holiday celebration of Emancipation Day on August 1 annually. Other notable holidays include Independence Day (September 19) and national Heroes Day (September 16).
